Elestial formations are truly beautiful; they are complex in their simplicity. Smoky quartz is most frequently found in this formation. Smoky elestials have a range of color from light to dark and different degrees of depth to their formation, often occurring with phantoms and occasionally even enhydro bubbles. I find them endlessly fascinating; it is so easy to get lost in their formations. While they have certain formations in common, there really is no such thing as a typical elestial. They are known by many different names, jacare quartz, skeletal quartz, and crocodile quartz just to name a few. Elestials can form as interlocking plates and complex etchings some say the formations look like the scales of a crocodile (hence the origins of that name). With skeletal elestials, you can see layers of crystals almost like the layers of an onion; they are often accented by clay inclusions. Elestials can also have doorways and self-healed formations; they can appear as wands, scepters, overlays, and sometimes as a combination between an elestial and cathedral.

This beautiful elestial has a rich dark smoky quartz color known as morion quartz. At first glance it appears black, like obsidian, but catch it in the light and you will find it is a deep translucent brown. The base of the crystal has a stark contract of clear quartz that is quite translucent. The surface is covered in etchings that are simply beautiful. There are a few minor bruises, but overall this elestial is in very good condition. It has a peaceful energy that helps you find your inner quiet. Its energy grounds you to the earth's energies, but is not slow or sluggish, nor does it make you feel weighted down. It is perfect for meditation, helping you to quiet racing thoughts to achieve a zen like state. Its soothing energy will also help to counter insomnia and banish nightmares. A sister to smokey quartz, Morion quartz is very rare black quartz and is formed through natural radiation, from growing near uranium deposits. Morion itself is not radioactive and is safe to carry. When exposed to light for extended time they fade from black to gray. "Morions" were a type of helmet used around the time of the Conquistadors, which speaks to the stone's protective and shielding qualities. They are useful in shadow work, helping the wearer to face the dark aspects of self and to release obstacles. They are grounding and aid in coping with grief. Morion can be used to bring connection with the "darker" faces of the deity, such as the Crone and Hunter archetypes.
