Ocean jasper was only discovered a handful of years ago, and has quickly become one of the more hotly desirable stones available. Unfortunately, its mining process precludes lots of this material being available, and my understanding is that it is becoming more difficult to find. To harvest this unusual material, miners must row off the coast of Madagascar at low tide, where they can find these fascinating and unique stones lying in shallow pools. They must collect as much as they can before the tide begins to come back in, severely limiting access to these beautiful stones. Originally called orbicular jasper because of the round markings in the stone, the name ocean jasper quickly took hold, giving credit to its unusual mining process. This unusual mineral can be found in almost every color, with striking patterns. Ocean jasper has a soothing energy that can often be used to spark creativity.

This is a petite, free-standing carving with graceful and elegant curves; a very feminine essence. It is very similar in shape to either a flame and/or teardrop, but doesn't exactly meet that profile. It's soothing earth tones are a marbled mixture of whites and browns. Her circular markings are a potpourri of browns outlined in white, browns with no outline at all, to markings that seem to be opaque in nature. Both sides have a wide base while narrowing out as it reaches the peak; however, one side has a much wider base than the other. The narrower side is carved in such a manner that it fits very comfortably in the palm of a hand. Intuitively, I'm conscious of a very warm, nurturing energy. An essential piece in helping one with acknowledging and accepting responsibility. Patience soon becomes an attribute that was once missing. This is a lovely piece that can be used as a display and/or as a means of healing.
